Clarity Medical Systems Names Jeffrey Otten And Thomas Loarie To Board Of Directors

PLEASANTON, CA, June 6, 2006 - Clarity Medical Systems, makers of advanced diagnostic and data capture systems for pediatric and adult eye healthcare, today announced the appointment of Jeffrey Otten and Thomas Loarie to the company's board of directors.

Mr. Otten is a nationally prominent health care executive and leader. For 9 years, he served as president and chief executive of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. In this role, Mr. Otten built Brigham & Women's into one of the country's premier medical institutions. More recently, Mr. Otten was CEO of Stentor, an innovator in digital medical imaging solutions, which in 2004 was named to the INC. 500 list of America's fastest growing companies. Mr. Otten is now president of JRO Ventures, a management consulting firm.

Mr. Loarie has a long history of success in the medical technology arena. Over the last two decades he has founded and led several medical device companies, securing a total of nearly $200 million in financing for these enterprises. In the field of ophthalmology, Mr. Loarie served as CEO of Keravision, which specialized in devices to correct common vision abnormalities, and was an advisor to Occulogix, which is developing treatments for age-related eye disease. He currently serves as chairman and CEO of Mercator MedSystems, an early-stage company focused on devices to treat vascular disorders.
